St. Joseph’s College of Engineering & Technology, Thanjavur, was established in 2007 under the umbrella of the DFT Group of Institutions, which also runs other engineering and arts and science colleges in Tamil Nadu, apart from other colleges and universities in India and African countries, like Tanzania, Malawi and Kenya. The group also runs numerous schools, hospitals and hospitality centres. SJCET offers BE courses in 5 streams as well as an MBA programme.
