Located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river, IIT Guwahati’s 700-acre campus is about 20 kilometres from the city’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in several disciplines, the institute also houses several centres for research and development. On-campus infrastructure includes several hostels for male and female students, a large central library stocked with print and digital resources and offering access to several academic networks and databases, several well-equipped laboratories under the various departments, a computer and communications centre, a central instruments facility, a research park and a technology incubation centre. Non-academic infrastructure includes a hospital and several facilities for indoor and outdoor sports. In terms of placements, the institute’s centre for career development says notable recruiters include firms like Microsoft, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Goldman Sachs, L&T and Jaguar Land Rover, among several others.
